OpenDroneMap

OpenDroneMap (ODM) is open-source drone mapping software for generating maps, point clouds, 3D models, and DEMs from drone imagery.

Introduction

OpenDroneMap (ODM) is a suite of open-source tools for processing aerial imagery, primarily from drones, to generate various geospatial products.

Key features include:

  • Orthomosaics: Creation of high-resolution, georeferenced orthorectified images.
  • Point Clouds: Generation of dense 3D point clouds.
  • 3D Models: Production of textured 3D models.
  • Digital Elevation Models (DEMs): Creation of DEMs and Digital Surface Models (DSMs).
  • Command-Line Interface (CLI): Core functionality accessible via a command-line toolkit (ODM).
  • Web Interface: User-friendly web interface (WebODM) for processing, visualization, and analysis.
  • API: REST API (NodeODM) for integration with other applications.
  • Python SDK: (PyODM) for adding aerial image processing capabilities to applications.

Use cases:

  • Surveying and Mapping: Generating accurate maps for surveying, construction, and infrastructure management.
  • Agriculture: Analyzing crop health and monitoring field conditions.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Assessing environmental changes and monitoring natural resources.
  • Disaster Response: Creating rapid damage assessments after natural disasters.
  • 3D Modeling: Generating 3D models for visualization and analysis in various industries.
